Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
An important member of two of the nine “dynasties” recognized by the NHL throughout its history, Red Kelly won multiple Cups with both Detroit and Toronto, the Simcoe native was also named a First Team All-Star (as a defenceman) six times. We have a stick used by the HOFer during the mid-1960s while with the Maple Leafs. A CCM Pattern Made Custom Pro model, “Kelly” and “4” appear stamped-on, with the original black tape over the blade and white over the knob. With the striping accents intact, the vintage lumber exhibits light to moderate game-use and remains solid despite cracks to both the blade and shaft.
Addendum; the crack in the shaft is a fine long one following the vein of the wood and the shaft remains very solid. The cracks on the tip of the blade are grouped together and again the blade is very solid with no pieces missing. There are a few very small pinhole-size holes to both sides of the shaft. None of these affect the eye-appeal of this great stick.
