Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Their first World Series championship since 1962, the New York Yankees would defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1977 Fall Classic, with the Series best remembered for the three consecutive home runs hit in the clinching Game 6 that earned MVP Reggie Jackson his “Mr October” sobriquet. We have a pair of items from the ’77 Series, with an official press pin and World Series program (with three accompanying media notes sheets), along with a New York Yankees address book. The press pin is approx. 1” square, with a needle post and intact fastener, manufactured by Balfour with their stamp over the reverse. A bit of minor spotting is visible over the reverse, with the pin in otherwise gorgeous condition. The program has not been scored, with moderate wear along the spine including a 1” tear along the base, with a pair of large creases over the back cover. Three inserted sheets all have “World Series Media Information”, with pertinent Game 1 information listed including the staring line-ups and the announcement that Pearl Bailey would sing the national anthem. Lastly, the address booklet is 3” x 5” and unused, with a black vinyl cover with the Yankees monogram in gold.
