Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015

One can imagine how it must have been fun for youngsters and young men to buy a Paulin’s Hockey Bar and discover their or their team’s picture on the card that accompanied the chocolate bar. Paulin’s unique 90-card set issued during the 1928-29 season featured mostly school and amateur teams/players who skated in western Canada, with the cards today surfacing very infrequently. This group of PSA-graded examples is led by a trio at Good+ 2.5 that includes #s 5-Enderby Hockey Team, 13-Empire School, Moose Jaw and 27-MacLeod Hockey Team, with half a dozen at Good 2; 3-Brandon Schools Boy Champions, 4-Port Arthur Hockey Team (with goalie Lorne Chabot), 6-Humboldt High School, 7-Regina Collegiate Hockey Team, 17-Arts Girls Hockey and 85-Calgary Jimmies. Completing the lot at PR 1 are nine cards; 2-Elgin Hockey Team, 8-Weyburn Beavers, 12-Rovers, Cranbrook, BC, 19-U.M.S.U. Junior Hockey Team, 50-Ikey Morrison, 52-Don Cummings, 75-Calgary Jimmies (with “redeemed” punch hole), 80-W. Brooks and 87-Heck Fowler. Yet another “sweet” batch of Paulin’s Candy cards.
