Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
The Kansas City Americans only played two seasons, both in the American Hockey Association where they were able to make it to, but lose the finals. The league folded because of the war, and a number of notable NHL players suited up for Kansas City during their short existence including Bill Mosienko, Max Bentley, Johnny Gottselig, Pete Leswick and Sam LoPresti. In absolutely beautiful condition, this vintage wool with reinforced tie-neck, has only a few streaks noticeable on the middle white band section to the left of the KC logo. Nine felt stars are applied front and back, for a total of 18. With all the colors vibrant, and a beautiful felt team logo affixed, this survivor would fit nicely into even the most advanced wool collection. No tagging is present, and the sweater measures roughly 27" from the top of the back of the collar to the bottom hem, and each sleeve is approx. 19". It is important to note that when this sweater was originally sold many years ago, it was then attributed to Sammy McManus and to the 1940-41 season. This beauty exudes style!
