Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
You can hold up three Conn Smythe Trophies to argue in favor of Patrick Roy as the best goalie in hockey history. After winning playoff MVP twice with Montreal, Roy added a third with Colorado, where he won the Stanley Cup two more times for a career total of four Cups. Saint Patrick’s 1997-98 Avalanche game-worn jersey was part of a multi-jersey deal purchased directly from the team in circa 1998. Starter and size 58G-11-23 tagging sits in the back of the neck. The Starter and old NHL shield logos are embroidered on the right rear hem and the fight strap exhibits some rust surrounding the inner snap of the button. Game wear includes a few marks on the team crest on the front, light board burns on the front hem and the back of the left sleeve, a diagonal mark through the bottom of the right “3” on the back and black marks on the white stripe on the upper back. Comes with an Avalanche LOA signed by Greg Sherman.
The deal, which included this Roy gamer and a few others, was purchased through Avalanche director of retail operations Sherman, who went on to become the team’s general manager, in conjuction with and through Brian Rogers at the Detroit Hockey Company.
