Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
A stick signed by most of the 1967-68 Maple Leafs is most impressive here, with 19 blue ballpoint autographs including those of HOFers Horton, Mahovlich, Keon, Bower, Stanley, Pulford and Pronovost showing up nicely and that of Armstrong weaker. The “Lie 6 Left” model is joined by another without manufacturer’s stamping but also with accent striping still present and which features a dozen sigs. The ink of Tim Horton’s bold autograph has bled somewhat, with Ullman, Keon, Armstrong, Pronovost, the late Pat Quinn and Forbes Kennedy among the signers, with the latter helping to zero-in on ’68-69 and more details on our website.
Also signing the ’67-68 stick, from the top downwards, were trainers Naylor and Haggert, Walton, goalie Al Smith, (suggesting a training camp/pre-season affair), Conacher, Stemkowski, Carleton, Gamble, Oliver, Ellis and Rupp, while additional signers of the ’68-69 twig were Floyd Smith, Walton, Ellis, Henderson and Dorey. Sticks are adult size and in solid condition with no use, while the vast majority of the autographs are easily legible/decipherable. Formidable stuff for Leaf/autograph aficionados!
