Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
Cool collection of five pieces evokes fond memories of the great Jackie Robinson, the Montreal Royals and the Brooklyn Dodgers. Robinson, who integrated baseball with the 1946 Royals, is pictured on the far right in the back row of a vintage 11x14 team photo of the 1956 National League champion Dodgers. Fellow HOFers Snider, Campanella, Reese, Koufax and Alston are pictured along with Flatbush favorites Newcombe, Hodges, Gilliam, Erskine, Labine and 1955 World Series heroes Podres and Amoros on this print that exhibits substantial creasing but makes for a historic display piece, ready for worthy framing. Vintage Jackie Robinson endorsed baseball glove and bat are included. Jackie’s facsimile autograph sits in the middle of the pocket of the brown leather glove with “Caprico” tagging and a name handwritten on the outside edge of the little finger and inside the wrist strap. Robinson’s facsimile autograph is on the barrel of a 32 1/2" long Louisville Slugger bat with “JR3” stamped on the knob. A Montreal Royals flannel replica jersey with blue felt No. 9 sewn on the back has “Ebbets Field Flannels, Vintage Athletic Wear” tagging in the back of the neck with a size XXL flag tag. Completing the lot is a 1955 World Series reproduction poster mounted in a 24” x 16” wood frame.
