Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
HOF Leafs goalie Johnny Bower’s circa late-1950s Maple Leafs game-used stick displays some solid game wear along with a few vintage signatures and a more recent Bower autograph on the paddle. Bower’s Northland Pro gamer has a bold blue marker Bower autograph with his “HHOF 76” annotation between his original tape jobs on the paddle. Johnny’s original tape job remains on the knob with the late Allan Stanley and fellow deceased HOFer Foster Hewitt among the legible signatures that remain among the pale vintage autographs, some that are illegible, on the shaft. The “Northland Ski Mfg” and “Olympic Sporting Goods” stamps are on the shaft which has red goalpost paint transfer, as does the paddle, which also has remains of the three accent stripes.
More game wear shows in black marks and skate marks on the back of the blade. There is a crack in the paddle, which remains very solid, as does the blade, which also has cracks. “$1.00” is handwritten in black marker on one side of the shaft.
