They loved it in Dallas! In Buffalo, not so much. Hall of Fame right wing Brett Hull secured the Stars’ first Stanley Cup in franchise history in 1999 with one of the most controversial Cup-winning goals ever. And this is the photo-matched #22 jersey he was wearing when he did it, foot in the crease and all as he swept the puck past fellow HOFer Dominik Hasek of the Sabres, his future teammate with the 2002 Stanley Cup champion Red Wings. This awesome piece of hockey history is matched to two Getty Images overhead photos of Hull scoring the Cup-winning goal at 15:13 of the third overtime after Saturday June 19 turned to Sunday June 20 in Game 6 at Marine Midland Arena. The matches are: (1) the slightly diagonal vertical cut in the green fabric within the bottom portion of the right “2” on the back of the jersey; (2) the black mark on the lower left edge of the left “2” on the back; and (3) to the black mark in the white band to the left of the upper part of the bottom portion of the left “2” on the back. The 1999 Stanley Cup Finals patch is sewn on the right breast. CCM tagging in the back of the neck has a CCM goalie style flag tag below it, with tape on the back, and a size 56 flag tag to the left is sewn over by nameplate stitching. The fight strap is cut and there is a Velcro patch sewn inside the rear tail. The sleeves are customized with added length, and the jersey is hemmed-up at the waist. There are seven team repairs on the back of the right sleeve and two more on the left, board burns on the sleeves and a crescent-shaped cut on the bottom left point of the Star on the right front tail, among other great game wear. Comes with Brett Hull’s signed LOA.
More game wear includes a diagonal black mark on the right rear of the jersey through the bottom right of the right “2” sewn on the back, black marks on and below the No. 22 sewn on the right sleeve, black marks on the No. 22 sewn on the left sleeve with blue paint transfer on the mark on the right “2”, board burns on the right rear tail, and marks on the front tail. The Dallas Stars logo is embroidered on the left rear tail, and the CCM and NHL logos are embroidered on the right rear tail.
