Photo-matched stick that created hockey history is the one Brett Hull used to score his 732nd goal during the 2003-04 season. The Golden Brett moved ahead of fellow HOFer Marcel Dionne into third place on the NHL career goal list with his overtime winner against L.A. on December 8, 2003. Hull finished his career with 741 goals, behind only Wayne Gretzky (894) and Gordie Howe (801). "Just to be there behind Wayne Gretzky and Gordie Howe, I can't put it into words," Hull said. "One guy is known as the greatest player ever and the other guy is known as Mr. Hockey." The Golden Brett signed with the notation “#732” in silver paint pen posing with the goal puck and this stick in the included 16x20 photo that provides the match. Comes with Brett Hull’s signed LOA.
Hull’s original tape jobs remain on the blade and knob of his Easton Z-Bubble Grip two-piece composite game-used stick. The date, “12/8/03” and notation “732 3rd” are handwritten in black marker on the back side of the bottom his white tape job on the knob. The red and green discoloration marks on the knob are from being stacked against other Hull sticks which discolored on it.
The photo matches include the paint chip and mark through the Easton logo low on the front of the shaft, and the distinctive locations of the black marks in “Easton” above that, with two marks at the top of the “E” and one at the bottom right, a mark at the bottom left of the “A”, and the marks along the top of the “S” and “T” which clearly show in the photo of Hull posing with Red Wings teammates Mathieu Schneider, who set up Hull’s one-timer past Kings goalie Roman Cechmanek 1:51 into overtime, and Jason Wooley, who also assisted on the milestone 732 goal that gave Detroit a 3-2 win.
