Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
Just the second we've ever offered, this intriguing wooden plaque features Shirriff coin-like discs which include nifty real photo images of the 1962-63 Stanley Cup champions. Coach Imlach and 21 players are below a coin picturing hockey's ultimate prize. We'd love to see what, if anything, is on the backs of the white plastic coins, but they're glued securely in place, with a few of the players' photos having curled. Our previous consignor informed that the (approx. 10" by 12") plaque was purchased at Maple Leaf Gardens during the '63-64 season. The smiling faces of Armstrong, Bower, Kelly, Keon, Mahovlich, Horton et al will put a smile on yours! From a wonderfully successful time in Leafs history.
To mention condition-wise are spots of glue near the edges of some coins, with most of Red Kelly’s name torn away and cracks in Eddie Shack’s photo. All-in-all though, a terrific display at arm’s length.
