Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
Offered are two postcards depicting this successful franchise. The collage style example, marking three seasons from 1912-1914, is in excellent plus condition and features an unused, divided postcard style reverse. The studio posed shot, titled Champions 1912-13, has a crease on the lower right corner, is missing a portion of the lower left corner and has small defects along the edges but overall displays well. It also has the divided postcard back and has not been posted or written on.
The NHA champion Quebec Bulldogs won their second straight Stanley Cup in 1913. The Bulldogs edged the Sydney Millionaires of the Maritime Professional Hockey League two games to none in the best of three competition. Quebec scored 20 goals in total, winning game one 14-3 as Joe Malone potted nine goals. In game two, Joe Hall earned a hat-trick to aid the Bulldogs in winning the game 6-2, and the Cup.
