Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018

New Westminster, B.C., is the home of the Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame, which is fitting, since the hometown Salmonbellies have won the Mann Cup more than any other team. This 1986 New Westminster Salmonbellies Mann Cup championship 14-karat gold ring was presented to John Gilchrist, who helped lead the storied team to a 4-2 series win over the Brooklin Redmen to claim the solid gold trophy awarded annually to Canada’s senior men’s box lacrosse champions. "14K" is stamped inside the size 9 1/2 band of Gilchrist’s championship, which has an approximate weight of 25 grams. Comes with an LOA and a copy of the ring’s pawn ticket from Gilchrist.
Proud wear has smoothed the gold team logo in the middle of the synthetic ruby stone set in the tableau. “Mann Cup Champions” is spelled out on the top and bottom of the bezel, with two zirconias, one on each side, between the numbers “1” and “9” on the left, and numbers “8” and “6” on the right. “New Westminster Salmonbellies” and an image of the Mann Cup are stamped on the left shank, and “Gilchrist”, a pair of crossed lacrosse sticks, and his number “18” are stamped on the right shank. This wonderful Mann Cup championship ring is very nicely preserved with surface scratches and some smoothing to the letters and numbers on the bezel from obviously proud wear.
