Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/27/2018
A decorated soldier during the first World War, John Reed Kilpatrick excelled at both football and track while attending Yale, with this followed by a successful business that led him to eventually overseeing the daily operations of the New York Rangers from 1934-1960. We have a typed and signed letter from the HOF Builder, administered on Rangers’ MSG letterhead. At 7 ¼” x 10 ½”, the heavily-toned off-white and previously thrice-folded February 11th 1937 document is addressed to the sports editor of “The Daily News”, with the content congratulatory. Kilpatrick has added a gorgeous fountain pen autograph, and it displays well. Kilpatrick was elected to the HOF in 1960, with his signature a tough example for any HOF completists. A PSA/DNA LOA will accompany.
The sheet itself exhibits the aforementioned toning, with a green pencil crayon notation within the upper left corner. There is also minor wear to the bottom left corner.
