Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Finishing second overall at the conclusion of the 1965-66 NHL regular season, the Chicago Black Hawks then upset the first-place Detroit Red Wings before advancing to the final against the mighty Montreal Canadiens. We have a stick team-signed by the 1965-66 squad, with this example a full size “Special” model sold at Doug Laurie Sporting Goods, made for a left-hand shooter with a “6” lie. Sporting just a single strand of somewhat loose fibreglass wrap over the blade, the striping accent is intact with minimal loss, with approx. 22 signing one side of the shaft in varying inks, including HOFers Hall, Pilote, Mikita and Hull, along with Vasko, Hodge, Nesterenko, Wharram, Mohns, Maki, Jarrett, Lunde, MacNeil, Dryden, D. Hull and others. The signatures vary regarding condition, with most readable but light, with a few completely faded. The Bobby Hull and Hall signatures are in ballpoint and readable. The stick itself exhibits light age/storage wear, and remains completely solid.
