Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
Never meant to be saved, we have a rare vintage Baltimore Clippers National Beer advertising poster, with this scarcity all the more noteworthy as it’s been absolutely covered with over 125 hockey signatures. At approx 9” x 22 ½” and adhered to cheap cardboard, a generic player is featured, with “Clippers” over the upper right just above a National Beer emblem. The signatures are all scripted in ballpoint, including HOFers Shore, Howe, Plante, Harvey, Gadsby, Abel, Worsley, Giacomin and others. Baltimore played in the AHL from 1962 to 1975 and were affiliated with a number of NHL clubs through their tenure, with notables Doug Harvey, Jacques Plante, Ed Giacomin and Jean Ratelle all donning Clippers jerseys.
The Shore is one of the largest signatures and display well, as does the Plante, with the Harvey closely bunched between other signatures. The poster itself is in low grade, with heavy toning, staining, creasing and surface wear, with a split down the middle, with clear tape added. Some of the player’s names have also been written over the reverse.
