Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
An important historical item representing Canada’s hockey dominance, offered here is an extremely rare original ticket stub from Game 8 of the 1972 Summit Series between Canada and the Soviet Union. The holder of this ticket for the September 28th showdown at Moscow's Luzhniki Ice Palace certainly remembers where they were when Paul Henderson scored with 34 seconds left in the third period, giving Canada a 6-5 win over the Soviets along with global bragging rights. The roughly 2 ¾” x 4” thin-stock ticket stub displays an uneven left edge from being ripped at the venue entrance, with the "28" (date) fully visible along with Section 10, Row 06 and Seat 098.
Free of the considerable wear we usually encounter on these thin-stock tickets from Moscow, some very light creasing is present, with the colours still bold and prominent. This rarely seen Game 8 ticket stub represents one of the greatest moments in Canadian hockey history, and is a must-have for any serious Summit Series collection!
