Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017

Yes indeed, a Habs-lover will find this variety of cardboard goodies intriguing, with many of them encapsulated. We’ll start though with two beauty “raw” cards which date back to the early-1960s and feature the same image of Henri Richard. Card #47 from Parkhurst’s ’60-61 issue has but a little indentation in the top border to mention and is otherwise NM, while Henri’s #43 Parkie from the following season is NM+ with a touched lower right corner – impressive. Two ’73-74 O-Pee-Chee Larry Robinson rookie cards (EX+, EX-MT) also carry some weight/value, with toning to mention on the back of the latter. It appears as though our consignor had an admiration for Canadiens’ defencemen, especially Larry, with numerous different (and some duplicate) cards of Robinson, Serge Savard, Guy Lapointe, Chris Chelios and others. Two cards are hand-signed by Robinson and two others by Lapointe. Some three dozen cards, some of them merely commons, are graded, with different grading companies represented. Five cards received GEM MT 10 recognition from PSA; ’74-75 Topps #254-Murray Wilson, ’85-86 OPC #225-Mike McPhee RC, ’88-89 Topps #49-Chelios and ’87-88 OPC #s 228-Gainey and 232-Carbonneau. A Carbo RC from ’83-84 is a KSA Mint 9, while a Craig Ludwig rookie from the same year is slabbed Gem Mint 9.5 by Beckett. Two Chelios OPCs from ’87-88 and two from the following year rest in PSA holders labeled MINT 9. A ’68-69 Topps #66-Gilles Tremblay is a PSA NM 7 and a ’77-78 OPC 30-Robinson at MINT 9 are other most notables, with others to discover. The lucky high bidder will also have fun going through over five dozen special insert cards from recent years which include jersey and autograph cards, with Robinson featured on 14 of them, including an autographed “stick” card numbered “15/15”. Savard, Carbonneau, Koivu, Roy, Chelios,Price, Langway, Naslund, Muller and others are also featured on the “new stuff”. Tossed onto the pile are nine graded older Vancouver Canucks cards and eight newer jersey or autograph inserts. Oh, and last but not least is an ’89-90 OPC Joe Sakic RC, graded Gem Mint 10 by KSA. Lots of possibilities here!
