This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
An absolute dream for puck peddlers, we have an especially desirable collection of 29, loaded with vintage NHL game and practice examples. Included, we have 3 Art Ross NHL game pucks from the 1942-50 time frame, with these the first the premier league used after Spalding. Next, we have 4 Art Ross NHL game pucks from the 1950-58 time frame, with these examples featuring the larger orange box encompassing the rubberized logo. This is followed by 4 Art Ross practice pucks from 1962-64, with 2 featuring logos on each side, 2 with logos on one side. There are also 16 Converse practice pucks from 1969-77, along with a pair of miscellaneous pucks including an Art Ross Tyer example with circular logo and a Viceroy puck with NHL logo. We should also note that each puck has a small hologram affixed to the reverse.
For the 1942-50 pucks, one example features a clean rubberized logo and light wear, while one example has heavy gouging along one edge. The third puck has a somewhat “bunched-up” logo. The 1950-58 pucks all exhibit moderate to heavy use, with each logo showing varying degrees of wear, with one example having what appears to be illegible writing. Two examples also have gouges along the sides. Next, the 1958-62 practice pucks all show heavy wear to the logos, except one example, that remains clean and bright. The 1969-77 pucks also vary in condition, with the majority showing just light wear to the pucks and logos. Lastly, the two miscellaneous pucks both show light use with minimal wear to the logos.
