Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Highly desirable and rarely made available to the collecting community, cork grip bats are scarce, especially examples featuring prominent HOFers. We have a Rogers Hornsby example from the 1916-31 labeling period, with the “Made in USA” designation within the center brand narrowing production to post-1921. Stamped 34” along the knob, the “Kork Grip” stamping with 1914 patent date appears between the handle and center brand, with the barrel signature stamping completely legible. The cork grip handle exhibits wear with some minor loss in spots, with a few surface cracks appearing between the handle and center brand, with some dead wood also present along the back of the barrel. Despite these technical flaws, the bat remains solid and displays beautifully. Hailing from the collection of Brett Hull, a signed LOA from the HOFer will accompany.
