Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Making their home in Winnipeg from 1965 to 1970, the Canadian National hockey team battled European talent regularly at the Winnipeg Arena, and on the world stage our nation was proudly represented as Team Canada won a trio of consecutive bronze medals at the IIHF World Championships from 1966 to 1968.
This circa mid-to-late-1960s National team jersey worn in international tournaments was recycled for use by the Toronto Young Nationals Junior B team in 1970. The solid white jersey that measures out to a size 42 features a Canadian maple leaf and “Canada” arched across the chest in red twill under a lace-up style neck that has since seen a replacement lace added. The sleeves and verso have "15" in single red twill, with a screened and faded "Toronto Young Nats" nameplate over the upper reverse. The jersey shows good game-use with a few marks, scuffs and scrapes present and staining over the front and reverse, along with a large circular stain to the front left shoulder. A number of team repairs are also present throughout, with a few small holes including a larger example to the left armpit, loose threading in spots, fading to the sewn-on twill crest and numbers, a partially unravelled hem, bleeding of the red colour along the sleeve seams, and a few small tears to the "5" of "15" on the reverse. We should also note that the jersey was possibly worn by Jerry Pinder at the 1969 IIHF World Championships. An LOA from Hockey Canada will accompany.
