This awesomely hammered Cam Neely photo-matched Boston Bruins gamer is the ultimate testament to the way the Hall of Fame right wing played the game. The prototypical power forward, Neely dished out as much abuse as offense on a Bruins team that made it to two Stanley Cup finals appearances against Edmonton in 1988 and 1990. Because he preferred the Bruins' knit jerseys rather than the air-knit jerseys worn by Boston in 1987-88 and 1988-89, Neely wore this 1986-87 jersey, with an "86 04" born date on its Maska Ultrafil flag tag in the neck, during the second half of the 1987-88 season, and kept it through the 1988 playoffs, all the way to the final against the Oilers, and on into the 1988-89 season, up until late January, before he switched to a different jersey with the "A" on it. Neely scored 42 and 37 goals in those respective seasons, following up his 175 penalty minutes in 1987-88 with a career-high 190 PIMs in 1988-89! With over 80 team repairs, many of which are elaborate, this gamer with extensive photo matches takes hammered to a whole new level. Both sleeves are covered with black marks, red paint transfer, board burns and incredible team repairs that were piled on top of one another to keep Neely's favored gamer in service. More black marks, team repairs and red paint on the front and back, and pilling on the rear tail, way too much wear to cover in great detail! Double cloth fight strap was added to the existing Velcro button snap fight strap. Comes with a CD with more than 25 photo matches to this gamer, as well as a 1988-89 Goal magazine game program with the photo-matched Neely cover shot from the 1988 Wales Conference final against the New Jersey Devils which shows a bare left rear tail, where the Custom Crafted logo was added for the 1988-89 season.
The jersey originally had an autograph on the lower back below the numbers which was professionally removed. There are now no signs that it was ever there and there wasn't removal of any game wear.
Photo matches include:
red marks on the left sleeve, to the left of the team crest on the left shoulder and on the sewing line above;
the grouping of black marks to the right of the number 8 on the left sleeve;
the grouping of black marks to the left of the number 8 on the left sleeve;
the three (3) black marks on the team crest on the front of the jersey;
the two (2) black marks just below the team crest;
the team repair below the front of the collar;
the long team repair below the front team crest;
the numerous team repairs on the right sleeve at the elbow and above the number 8;
the black mark above the 8 on the right sleeve, and the red mark at the lower left corner of the 8.
the black mark on the back to the left of the number 8, about at the level of the middle of the lower section of the 8;
the black diagonal marks to the right of the number 8 on the back, starting at about the middle of the lower section of the 8;
the red mark to the right of the embroidered CCM logo on the hem.
Photo-matched to the 1988 Stanley Cup Finals; a screenshot photo clearly showing Neely wearing that jersey and the jersey is conclusively video-matched to both home SCF games (no DVD included, though).
