Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2009
Mounted memories from the early days of the career of Bun Cook are gathered here in this grouping of artifacts relating to the Soo Greyhounds. A vintage 6" x 8" snapshot captures Cook with the team and has the inked note "Spring 1922" across the top. It is affixed to a scrapbook page along with newspaper articles detailing the exploits of the Greyhounds. A well-worn booklet, also included in the lot, holds numerous pages of advertising from local businesses supporting the team. Most of the ads are marked "Pd" in pencil, possibly an accounting of payments for the ads. Lastly, a hand-typed program dated April 7th, 1924 for the presentation of individual awards by the Mayor of Sault St. Marie (with his signature and speech inside) following the team’s Allan Cup Championship win in 1924. Though the program and booklet are loose, they both show evidence of being glued into the scrapbook at one point. Overall, in good to very good condition. From the personal collection of Hockey Hall-of-Famer Bun Cook, complete with a letter of authenticity.
