Great pair of Challenge Cup pieces features a rare player-of-the-game medal awarded to NHL All-Star Bryan Trottier. Also included in this lot of two items from Trottier's personal collection is the HOF center's pocket watch from the three-game series, which pitted the NHL All-Stars against the Soviet national team. "Player of the Game, February 10, 1979, Challenge Cup, Madison Square Garden, New York" is engraved on the reverse of the medal, which measures 2 1/4" long and the same width at its widest. It was presented to Trottier after he contributed a goal and an assist in the first period of the NHL's 5-4 loss in the second game of the series, which the Soviets claimed with a 6-0 win the following day. The medal has a raised NHL Challenge Cup logo in the middle with sponsor Molson stamped along the bottom and it comes with its red-white-and-blue ribbon. The Movado pocket watch that Trottier received for his participation in the series remains in working order. It measures 1 1/2" in diameter and is nicely engraved "Bryan Trottier" underneath the Challenge Cup logo on the inner side of the front case. The original Movado box and brown suede pouch are included. Bryan Trottier's signed LOA accompanies this lot.
