Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2011
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/29/2011
Outstanding hockey helmet worn by superstar Bryan Trottier as he led the Isles in their quest for a record-tying fifth straight Stanley Cup championship in the spring of 1984. New York made it to the finals with series wins over the Rangers, Capitals and Canadiens, but was knocked off by Gretzky and the Oilers in a five-game final, Edmonton winning games 3, 4 and 5 on home ice. The vintage CCM-made lid displays loads of game wear with scratches and scuffs to the logos and great interior wear. All pads and straps are intact and Bryan has added a perfect sig inside on the foam padding. New York decals are there on each side but Bryan's number "19" stickers are no longer in place at the back. Instead we see glue reside to show where they once rested. Comes complete with numerous digital images of the various matches (marks and decal wear) to game action photos of the 1984 Stanley Cup Finals. We must note that this item was not obtained directly from the collection of Bryan Trottier.
