Overtime Christmas Auction #9
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/5/2006
Fine batch of paper items from Vic Stasiuk’s time as a Boston Bruin in the 1950’s is highlighted by three identical Boston Garden programs picturing Stasiuk and Jacques Plante on the cover and from March 31, 1957. That’s the night the Bruins beat the Red Wings 4-3 to go up 2-1 in their semi-final series, which Boston took in five. Two programs picture Terry Sawchuk on the cover including one from the ’55-56 season opener while Fern Flaman (vs. Montreal) and Leo Labine (vs. Chicago) appear on program covers from later that season. One with Stasiuk on the cover is from ’56-57 and versus Detroit. Nice assortment here with the semi-final programs in EX condition and the others VG-EX. Also included are two identical 4-page program/menus from the second annual Face-Off Dinner featuring the Red Wings and Bruins and including all the players’ facsimile autographs on the back cover. The Bruins toured Newfoundland in 1956 and three neat yellow-tinted team photos on cardboard stock and measuring just over 5” by 7” are in 4-page programs sponsored by India Beer and accompanied by a menu from a dinner held in St. John’s April 11th. Other items include a 4 1/2” Bruins felt crest, Bruins 4-page hockey bulletin newspapers, over a dozen mostly Boston-area sports sections or pages and a neat telegram sent to the Bruins by “your ever loving gals” before Boston’s 1957 Stanley Cup finals against Montreal.
