Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
Sensational display opportunity here with six of Borje Salming's game used hockey sticks spanning the length of the Hall of Fame defenceman's 17-year NHL career. A CCM Custom Pro with "Salming" stamped beneath the butt end and a ridiculously exaggerated banana curve blade begins the timeline. Another CCM Custom Pro similar 1970s vintage has his #21 handwritten in black marker on the shaft and a standard curve on its black tape blade. A "Jan. 1983" date stamp appears on the cracked shaft of Salming's white Canadien 6001 and Salming's distinctive butt end tape job evolves further on a white Sher-Wood PMP 7000. A white and blue Sher-Wood in Maple Leafs' colors features bands of black tape along the shaft, while another Sher-Wood in white and red Red Wings colors has the same tape job around the shaft in red grip tape. Comes along with Borje Salming's signed LOA.
