Leading Minnesota to the Stanley Cup finals during his first season behind the bench in 1990-91, Bob Gainey would serve as the North Stars’ head coach for six seasons while also accepting general manager duties, beginning in 1992. Awarded for Minnesota’s status as Campbell Conference playoff champions in 1990-91, we have the Clarence Campbell championship trophy originally presented to the legendary Hall of Fame member. At 11” in height, the silver-plated handled cup with removable lid and chased detailing sits atop a hexagon-shaped 3-inch wooden base and is engraved “Bob Gainey – Minnesota North Stars – 1990-91” on one side, with the name of the trophy and its "1968" year of inception on the other. Hailing from his personal collection, a signed LOA from Bob Gainey will accompany along with the original box with affixed NHL decal.
Absolutely stunning with just a bit of surface wear along the middle and upper rim, there are also a few very small and minor blemishes, with the trophy displaying magnificently and remaining in gorgeous high-grade condition. We should also note that "R. Gainey" is handwritten over the top of the accompanying box's lid.
