Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020

The first Finnish goaltender in history to lift Lord Stanley’s hardware, Antti Niemi accomplished the feat in 2010 with the Chicago Black Hawks. The Vantaa native also served his nation as back-up netminder at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. From his first of two seasons in Quebec, we have a photo-matched Montreal Canadiens jersey worn by Niemi in 2017-18, from November 21, 2017, to February 20, 2018. Produced by Adidas with “58G” sizing over the collar band, NHL and Reebok crests are present on the front and back necklines respectively. Styled with the famous and sacred CH team crest, the white V-neck has been accented with “37” in tri-colour tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with “Niemi” across the nameplate in single blue twill. The jersey also featured the NHL 100th anniversary patch originally, but it was removed by the team and lost. The team patch numbered “A05749” sits on the inside hem, while a hologram numbered “GU22252” has been affixed to the second reverse number, with an LOA to accompany from the Canadiens.
We should note that two LOAs will actually accompany, one with the wrong time frame of use listed but the correct Canadiens hologram number (GU22252), while the second lists the correct time frame of use, but has the wrong hologram number (GU22282). Sporting a few puck marks over the front, there are numerous additional large black marks over the right sleeve. Getty Image #877951246 from Nov 22, 2017, has been matched to a number of loose threads and irregular sewing patterns on the "3" of "37" on the left sleeve, while Getty Image #899748606, from Dec 23, 2017, has been matched to the long series of black marks on the right sleeve below the "37" (not the first mark just below the 37, but the second line of marks just below it). Lastly, Getty Images #907308186 and #915491084 (Jan 19, 2018) have both been matched to the series of black marks on the right sleeve below the "37" and the one on the "7".
