Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
Three vintage Detroit Red Wings money clips and a pair of vintage Winged Wheel pins and a belt buckle are featured in this lot of seven jewelry pieces from HOF center Alex Delvecchio’s personal collection. A money clip with a red and white enamel Winged Wheel crest has “Alex 52-53 Marge” engraved on the back, which has a “Sterling” stamp. Another money clip with the full team name and the Winged Wheel stamped in red on the face has “A. Delvecchio Feb 3, 1958” engraved along the bottom while a third money clip was the Red Wings crest on the front and utility knives stored inside. Also included is a crude 1997-98 Red Wings pendant. Comes with Alex Delvecchio’s signed LOA.
The 1958 money clip is dated the day after Delvecchio had a big game in a 3-1 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Delvecchio was delegated by the Red Wings the following day to go to Florida to attend a meeting with club owners, so the money clip could be related to either of these events.
The Winged Wheel crest is featured on both vintage pins as well as on the front of the gold-colored belt buckle. The silver-colored pendant has “97-98 Champions” etched crudely on the base of a Stanley Cup displayed over a Winged Wheel crest.
