Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019

One of the best of his generation, future Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant stars here, with his most valuable of (21) different official rookie cards receiving MINT 9 recognition from PSA. The 1996-97 Topps Chrome (#138) example is housed in an older PSA holder (light scratches), while an SGC holder from years ago is home to a ’96-97 Topps Finest #74 RC, graded “98 GEM”. A ’96-97 Topps Chrome near set (211/220) in nine-pocket pages is lacking Michael Jordan, Kobe and the other top RCs, except Steve Nash. The looks on the faces of Kobe, Alex Rodriguez, Kordell Stewart and Eric Lindros, along with their accompanying black marker autographs on the cover a special framed 1998 ESPN Premier issue, are captivating – wow! Signatures are issue-free beauties, with Bryant signing “Kobe”. With “000023” on an ESPN hologram in the lower right corner, the publication is tastefully matted and framed to 17” by 20” by 1-5/8” thick, with “23/250” appearing on a plaque below the pub. A few scratches/scuffs to the plexi-glass are to note, along with the accompanying paperwork (COA, photos of the signers) from ESPN.
Missing cards from the '96-97 Topps Chrome set are #s 71, 72, 128, 138, 139, 146, 171, 177 and 217.
