Mark Messier emerges from behind Wayne Gretzky's shadow as the Oilers face the Boston Bruins in the 1990 Stanley Cup Finals. Goaltender Bill Ranford, who took over the starting job earlier in the season from Grant Fuhr, kept the Oilers in Game One in Boston and his team won at 53:50 of overtime by a score of 3-2. The Oilers were unstoppable for the rest of the series, finishing off the Bruins in five games to claim their fifth Stanley Cup in seven years. Ranford, whose stellar netminding in the opening match gave the Oilers control of the series, would win the Conn Smythe. Direct from the Edmonton Coliseum, now Rexall Place, we are proud to offer the original banner that was raised high up into the rafters to celebrate and commemorate the Edmonton Oilers' second Stanley Cup Championship victory in 1990. This massive double-sided white nylon banner, measuring approximately 4 by 12 feet, proudly displays the team logo with "NHL Stanley Cup" above and "Champions 89-90" below. All logos, lettering and numbering have been individually applied to this historical one-of-a-kind display. From the archives of the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club, with accompanying letter of authenticity on team letterhead signed by Oilers General Manager Kevin Lowe.
