Later dubbed "Super Mario," Montreal native Mario Lemieux did not disappoint in his first NHL campaign following his record-breaking junior career with the Laval Voisins, his rookie season statistics of 43 goals and an even 100 points appearing here on the back of his desirable 1985-86 O-Pee-Chee rookie card. The young star then thoroughly impressed his peers in his second big league season ('85-86), evidenced by them voting Lemieux recipient of the Lester B. Pearson Trophy as the league's outstanding player as selected by the NHL Players' Association, ending a four-year run by that Gretzky guy. This example of card #9 has received NM-MT 8 recognition from PSA, with a touched lower right corner visible and, upon close inspection, a one-inch diagonal wrinkle on the back, descending to the right from just under the "L" of Lemieux.
