Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2017

Laying the groundwork and building a fan base for later 1980s slasher films, Halloween set the standard for modern horror, with the groundbreaking film one of the first to introduce the concept of the villain dying, only to come back to life in the same film. A feather in the hat of director John Carpenter, the 1978 film is also noteworthy for launching Jamie Lee Curtis’ career as one of Hollywood’s most famous scream queens. We have a typically-sized one sheet poster from the film, and it’s been signed by John Carpenter. Featuring the memorable image of Michael wielding an especially sharp knife, the tag line warned the would-be film goer that Halloween was “The night HE came home!” Carpenter has signed along the middle left section in silver paint pen, and the signature is flawless.
Thrice folded, the poster exhibits prominent fold lines, with a single vertical fold line along with three horizontal examples. The poster’s colours remain perfectly bold, with the majority of wear present along fold line intersections, including small holes along with small creases and wrinkles at each intersection. Some minor surface indentations are also present. We should note that “An Astral film release” sticker has been placed over the credits, with the reverse stamped “78-736” along with “Property of Consolidated Theatre Services Don Mills, Ontario – Calgary Alberta”.
Starring Donald Pleasence, Jamie Lee Curtis, Nancy Loomis, P. J. Soles, Charles Cyphers, Kyle Richards, Brian Andrews, and John Michael Graham. Directed by John Carpenter.
