Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
The classic battle for world hockey supremacy, the 1972 Canada-Russia Series will be forever remembered as the ultimate clash between western and eastern powers with the victorious Canadians retaining their dominance over the Soviets and the sport at large. Offered here, we present this unique item, an official American League baseball that has been signed multi-signed by nine (9) members of Team Canada's legendary 1972 Summit Series squad. Made by Rawlings, the OAL ball dates between 1990-92 based on the Costa Rica stamp found under the Rawlings logo over the top panel. Remaining in good condition with strong stamping and only light-to-moderate toning that is even throughout the entirety of the ball, those that have signed the piece include Ken Dryden, Paul Henderson, Rod Seiling, Gary Bergman, Pat Stapleton, Ron Ellis, Dale Tallon, Frank Mahovlich and Brian Glennie. All having signed in blue ballpoint pen ink, majority of the autographs display extremely well with little to no fading from age while those of Tallon and Glennie appear lighter, possibly due to a failing pen. Coming housed in a case, the ball in accompanied by a JSA Auction LOA.
