Jacques Plante Auction March 2006
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/28/2006
There's always something special about firsts and this miniature Vezina trophy commemorates Jacques Plante's first of five consecutive goals-against-average titles. Plante posted the stingiest average (1.86) of his extraordinary career as the Canadiens allowed but 131 goals in 1955-56, the fewest allowed by any NHL team during the second half of the 20th century. Come playoff time, the Habs marched to the Stanley Cup title and started a hockey dynasty without equal. Produced in recent years at the request of the Jacques Plante Foundation in Switzerland, where Jacques spent his later years, this mini Vezina includes an engraved metal plaque on the three-tiered wooden base. In pristine condition, the terrific keepsake will be accompanied by a LOA signed by Jacques' widow, Caroline.
