“Oh my” you may be saying to yourself, and justifiably so, at the sight of this stirring Maurice Richard rookie card which earned desirable NM-MT 8 recognition when it landed at PSA headquarters years ago. Many have attempted, before and after, to have their Richard rookie score above NM-MT 8 but, get this, just eight ever have. The PSA Population Report reveals that company graders have examined 452 Richard rookies as of September, 2020, with only five MINT 9s and three NM-MT+ 8.5s edging this example, one of 33 slabbed NM-MT 8. The image of the French Canadian hero is left of center, with bold rich colors and the Rocket’s image captivating indeed. Maurice was coming off seasons of 43 and 42 goals when Parkhurst packs hit the shelves during the 1951-52 campaign and would go on to found the NHL’s 500-goal club. Coveted are Richard rookie cards in any condition, with chances to score high grade examples coming along very infrequently. Good luck with this treasure depicting a national treasure – no player quite like the Rocket has ever come along since he made his mark on a culture and our fascinating sport.
Some light subtle scratches to the front of the PSA holder are to mention.
