Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
Fine trio of pre-war cards here features three Ontario-born lads who made their mark on the hockey world, with Peterborough's Doug Brennan's 1933-34 "Ice Kings" example preserved in impressive "white" and near perfect condition. The bilingual version merited a mark of NM 7 from PSA and the company's famous Population Report reveals that that makes it a Pop 6 with just six others graded higher. A bruising defenceman, Brennan had the previous season helped the Rangers to Stanley Cup glory. Two entries from O-Pee-Chee's '33-34 issue are the rookie cards of longtime New York American Normie Himes and one-time Stanley Cup playoff hero Ken Doraty. Both cards are housed in early PSA holders, with the former slabbed EX-MT 6 and the latter at EX 5. Himes was born in Galt, Ontario, with Doraty, who scored the overtime winner in one of the longest games in history, hailing from Stittsville. Hail to these encapsulated collectibles!
